Learn how to create and update a website for your small business. Go from being scared to get started to confidently creating a website that showcases your business to future clients. Whether you already have a WordPress website that you don’t understand or are creating a WordPress website for the first time, this hands on workshop will guide you through everything you need to know.
Course Overview
This is a hands on workshop that teaches people how to set up a website created with the self-hosted version of WordPress. You’ll be taught how to add and edit your own content. After this full day workshop you’ll know how to update your own WordPress website without having to pay somebody else to do it for you.
You’ll be given a live website to work on which will let you learn everything you need to know without the pressure of messing up your “real” website. After the workshop you can choose to keep the website you’ve made on the course or simply use what you’ve learnt. This workshop does not include installation of the software or include detailed information about web hosting, as this is likely to be unique to each learner.

Your Tutor
This workshop will be delivered by Claire Worthington BSc PG DipHE. Claire is an experienced web developer who has been working with WordPress for over a decade. Claire tutors at two universities on web development including a unit focused on WordPress websites.
Location
This workshop will take place at the Alma Lodge Hotel in Stockport and includes a light lunch and refreshments. The Alma Lodge is located on Buxton Road (the A6) has plenty of parking and can be easily reached by a number of buses including the 192 or trains stopping at Davenport Rail Station.
